Living a More Organised Life as a Working Mum

Being a working mother can be challenging, it requires balancing the demands of work and family life. Often, it can make you feel as though you're being pulled in every direction and as though there arent enough hours in the day. While it's not without its difficulties, if you go about things in the right way it is possible to find a nice work-life balance meaning you get the best of both worlds. The key is to live an organised lifestyle and be as prepared as possible, here are a few tips that may help.

Make a schedule
Create a daily or weekly schedule that includes time for work, family, and personal activities. This will help you stay on track and ensure that you have enough time for everything that needs to be done. Keep track of important dates, appointments, and deadlines using a calendar. This will help you stay on top of your schedule and ensure that you don't miss anything important.

Decide which tasks are most important and need to be done first. This will help you focus on the most critical tasks and avoid becoming overwhelmed by less important ones. Sometimes, work has to come first and sometimes your home life does. Don't feel guilty either way, let go of the idea that you have to do it all and do what you can and what you feel is the most important at that time.

Delegate tasks
If possible, delegate tasks to others in your family or at work. This will help lighten your load and give you more time to focus on what's important. Again, don't feel like you have to do it all - you're not failing by having others help or take over at times. Don't just think that delegation extends to those in your life regularly too, businesses outsource all the time, so why can't you? If you've got gardening that needs done, you could hire a gardener, hiring a maid for a deep clean once a month can lighten the load on you as a working mother. Sometimes you might have no choice but to delegate, if you find pests living in your garden for example, you're not going to have the facilities to deal with it effectively, you're going to be better off delegating the task to a company such as Aptive Environmental Pest Control CO (or another similar elsewhere more relevant) in order to get the job done.

Keep a daily to-do list
Make a list of tasks that need to be done and check them off as you complete them. This will help you stay focused and motivated, and will also provide a sense of accomplishment as you complete each task. If your days are very busy between work and home, this ensures that nothing important is being missed, so make it a daily habit to note down each morning exactly what needs to be done.

Keep your work and home separate
When you're at work, focus on work, and when you're at home, focus on your family. This will help you to be more efficient and effective in both areas. Switch off the guilt for not being in the other place, and  just do what you need to be doing on that day either at work or at home.

Set aside "me" time
Make sure you set aside some time for yourself each day, whether it's to exercise, read, or simply relax. This will help you recharge and be more productive overall. You cant pour from an empty cup, when you're split between career and family life you're probably overwhelmed at times so give yourself a breather. Hobbies, relaxing activities and fun experiences are needed to maintain balance.

Be flexible
Remember that things don't always go as planned, so try to be flexible and adapt to changes as they come. If you cant attend a work meeting because your child is ill, accept that it happens. If you have to work late and miss dinner on occasion, accept that that happens too. Keeping a flexible outlook is important to avoid stress.

By following these tips, you can help make your life as a working mother more organised and manageable. Remember to take care of yourself and be kind to yourself, it's a balancing act and it takes time to find the right rhythm.
